When your puppy is about one year old, it is a time to change from puppy chow to adult foods. So what kind of food for adult dogs should have? These are three types of dog food for you to consider: dry, semi-moist or canned foods.

Dry foods are generally the most popular choice and go through a long process to do. Most companies start with raw materials such as whole wheats, meat and fat. Then grind them to help increase the availability of nutrients and mixing. Next is a process that is called extrusion using an extruder. An extruder is a machine that resembles a screw inside a barrel. The food cooks who passes through the barrel and the change
of speed by turning the screw.

So the dog food is cooked and the end result come out as a spongy dough. Then sent through what is called a die where it is cut with a knife. The new nuggets go now in a dryer, where moisture removed. The last step is called embedding and is the sum of two liquids or powders, outside of the dog food.
