So what kind of food for adult dogs should have? These are three types of dog food for you to consider: dry, semi-moist or canned foods.
Dry foods are generally the most popular choice and go through a long process to do. Most companies start with raw materials such as whole wheats, meat and fat. Then grind them to help increase the availability of nutrients and mixing. Next is a process that is called extrusion using an extruder. An extruder is a machine that resembles a screw inside a barrel. The food cooks who passes through the barrel and the change
of speed by turning the screw.
So the dog food is cooked and the end result come out as a spongy dough. Then sent through what is called a die where it is cut with a knife. The new nuggets go now in a dryer, where moisture removed. The last step is called embedding and is the sum of two liquids or powders, outside of the dog food. Here improvements in fat and flavor are added.
Semi-moist foods that are almost like dry food, but when they pass through the extruder, the temperature is lower and the water is not fully removed. Semi-moist foods are naturally higher moisture and have an increased risk of damage from mold and bacteria. To help prevent this factory made the semi-humid and mold inhibitors bacteria and place them in special moisture-proof bags.
Canned food is the food in a sealed box, and then heat sterilized. The raw materials used in foods are all the same as dry and semi-moist foods. They are then added to a blender and cooked. Once cooked, but still hot, it moves into the filler. And when it is placed in cans and vacuum, then sterilized.
It is advisable to stay away from food that is semi-moist. It is always contained high salt and sugar. Sugar can contribute to gingivitis, which can lead to tooth loss. The salt, of course, can lead to dehydration, in some dogs.
If you really want Semi moist food for your dog, this type food need some water to add in. Be careful if you do not add much. Kibble tends to swell when wet and could cause inflation of your dog. Strive to keep dry or canned. To reach a conclusion, even better, you should
watch your dog to decide whether you should go with the dry or canned. Your dog is a large dog breed? Big dogs tend to eat more than smaller breeds and can benefit more than dry food that is sold in bulk.
Canned foods are best for small breed dog, but be careful with it because sometimes with canned food, you can see a rapid build up of tartar and plague to your dog.
